Nestled amidst the salubrious surrounding,  Army School, Miran Sahib was established with the purpose to impart quality  education to the wards of army personnel living at Miran Sahib and in its  immediate vicinity. It was inaugurated on April 03,1978, by Maj Gen Himmat  Singh, the then GOC of 26 Inf Div. The founder, with his progressive outlook  and Grand vision, extended the educational facility to the students of the  region to meet their educational needs & aspirations. At the time of its  inauguration, it was named 'Lavanya School, Maralia'. At the outset, it could  attract & enroll 50 students only. It was later renamed as Army School  Lavanya and was upgraded by adding one higher Class every following year. The  educational facilities were further extended to the wards of ex-servicemen and  locals as well. On July 01, 1991, the school was converted into Army School  Maralia, Miran Sahib, Jammu with the sanction of Army head quarters. Till April  01, 1996, the school was affiliated to the J&K State Board of School  Education. In 1996, it got affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary  Education. On April 01, 2007, the school was rechristened as Army School, Miran  Sahib. The school that started its journey 41 years back as Lavanya  School Maralia has come a long way in the past over three decades with glorious  achievements and it added one more feather to its Cap by being elevated to  Senior Secondary Level in the session 2011-12.
